IFS Therapy Intensive in North Carolina.

You’re looking for deeper healing.

Maybe you’ve been in weekly therapy for a while, but an hour a week just doesn’t give you the time you need.  Or perhaps you are just getting started with therapy and you already know that you want to get to the root of what is bothering you.  You may feel stuck, struggling with the same problem over and over again, or simply like you haven’t been able to go deep enough to find the relief you are looking for.

you’re feeling…

Frustrated by your inability to resolve what is bothering you.

Overwhelmed and are struggling to manage your emotions.

Exhausted from trying harder, doing more, being better.

An IFS Intensive can help.

dedicated time to focus on deep healing work

What is an IFS therapy intensive?

  • It is a longer therapy session that provides a concentrated way to do therapy.

  • Instead of having a therapy session for an hour a week, you set aside a specific block of time for intensive therapeutic work.

  • This longer block of time allows you to do deeper work, which can lead to faster healing.

IFS therapy intensive sessions can help you find lasting change.

IFS (Internal Family Systems) is an evidence-based model that provides an effective way to do deeper work for real change.

  • IFS stands for Internal Family Systems. It is a type of therapy that allows you to go deeper than traditional talk therapy so that you can understand yourself in a new way, heal old wounds, and create lasting change in your life.

  • First, we do a free 15 minute phone consultation.  This helps us to determine if this feels like a good fit and if the issues you want to work on are something that I am able to help with.

Next, we schedule a pre-intensive intake (55 minutes session).  We will look at what your life looks like now:  your support system, stressors, stuck points, and ways you cope currently.  Then we will talk about what we want to work on and what you want your life to look like after our intensive work is done.

Then we will meet for our intensive therapy session(s).  Intensive therapy sessions last for 3 hours and you might choose to schedule one, or more, depending on what you hope to accomplish in our time together.

Finally, we will decide on where to go from here. For some people, it is an intensive every month or two. Other people might want to set aside time to attend multiple intensives over a short period of time. Some people want to do a shorter (55 minute) session to check in before deciding how they want to go forward.

  • With a longer session, we are able to spend more time doing deep work. The deep work is where most of the change comes from in any therapy session. This format allows you to spend more of your time in session doing deep work, which can help you feel better faster.

  • In both weekly and intensive therapy sessions, most of the deep work tends to happen after about 40 minutes into the session.

In a weekly, 55-minute session that means you get about 15 minutes of deep work per session or 45 minutes of deep work over 3 weekly sessions.

But in a 3 hour intensive therapy session, that means you get about 2 hours and 20 minutes of time for deep work.

It is the amount of time spent doing deep work that allows for faster change. This can mean fewer hours in therapy, which saves you both time and money.

Free 15 minute phone consult.

We will set up a time to talk on the phone. This gives me a chance to hear about what you would like to work on, ask you any questions I might have and answer any questions you might have.

Pre-intensive Intake Session

This is a 55 minute session in which we will talk about what your life looks like now:  your support system, stressors, stuck points, and ways you cope currently.  Then we will talk about what we want to work on and what you want your life to look like after our intensive work is done.

IFS Therapy Intensive

Each intensive session is 3 hours long. Most people choose to schedule intensives every month or two instead of going to therapy every week or two. You can also choose to schedule several intensive sessions close together in order to do a focused piece of work or if you are preparing for an upcoming event like a wedding, a new job or a planned medical procedure. We will work together to determine the schedule that best matches your goals.

  • A 3-hour intensive session is $510.

If you are not a current client of Amy Dunn Counseling, you will also need to complete 1-2 pre-intensive sessions. In these sessions we will talk about your goals, history and any diagnoses. Those sessions are $170 each.

After you complete your intensive session(s), you will be offered a 55-minute post-intensive session. This session is also $170.

  • This answer gets a little complicated, bear with me. The short answer is they might cover part of it. Your insurance company might cover your pre-intensive intake and an other 55 minute sessions you attend as we work together. If you have a Blue Cross Blue Shield plan that I accept, I will file those claims for you. If you have another insurance, I will provide you with a Superbill you can send to your insurance company to see if they will reimburse you for some of the session costs.

You will need to pay out-of-pocket for the 3 hour intensive sessions, regardless of your insurance coverage. A Superbill will not be provided for these sessions.

  • The intensives I offer are 3 hours long. You may choose to complete one intensive session, or several, based on your goals and needs.
